Isnt the Truck festival brilliant
Truck nine is held in 2 small fields near Didcot about 10 miles from my house in Oxford.
I've never been before but will certainly try to go next year as it was excellent. Even the torrential downpour didnt put me off. Some of the bands nearly did though!
To be fair, there were lots of good bands - I'm sure I missed a number of them, many of them played in the Barn which was nigh-on impossible to get into. I'd planned to go and see
Out of the bands I did see, here are the good ones
Of the 'headliners' I'd say they were all without exception - pretty boring. The culprits

- 65 days of static
- Buck 65
- regina spektor
Out of the bands I did see, here are the good ones
- louie - very good indie band with 2 singers, esp. good for the first band of the festival
- the walk off - techno mixed with sonic youthie guitar, big crazy bear on stage
- winnebago deal - had no idea they were a 2-piece death metal band. Breath of fresh air"!
- battles - surprisingly enjoyable set from a bunch of museos!
- suitable case for treatment - blimey! what sort of horrendus childhood did this band have to suffer. Pretty grusome avant-garde(ish) death metal, wish I'd seem more of them
- mai mayo mai - only caught them due to the downpour, they sounded like they'd swallowed a CAN album which is no bad thing (even though I dont really like Can)!
- the priscillas - girl-based rock a littel like B52s/ramones but not really. Worth catching!
- the Research - shambolic throwaway indie pop which reminded my of the Silicon Teens crossed with the Revillos with Patrik Fitzgerald on vocals. They really were a breath of fresh air. The played a track described as their first single which was a corker. I especially like the 35-quid casio synth wich 'The disaster' insisted on playing balenced on his knees!
- Manic Cough - last but not least! Three cute and funny girls dressed as punk cheerleaders making a right racket. One of the highlights of the weekend. This is what music is all about!
Of the 'headliners' I'd say they were all without exception - pretty boring. The culprits
- Futureheads - I thought their massacring of Kate Bush's classic Hounds of Love was simply a poor example of what they can do. I was wrong. Why are they so popular?
- Forward Russia - jesus what an annoying voice!
- hundred reasons - they got in the charts apparently. Lord knows how
- persil - one of the worst performances i've ever had the, misfortune to be within earshot of. Christ!
- mystrey jets - ordinary
- young knives - ordinary
- :) [colon openbracket] - much talked about. Didnt get it at all. Still, I guess nothing much happens in aberdeen!
